Policies and Procedures

Policies at Montgomery College are adopted by the Board of Trustees and serve as statements of principle to inform decision-making and the conduct of College activities.
Procedures are issued by the College President and set forth action steps required to carry out a Board policy and/or a standard method for implementing actions.
Our official policies and procedures are segmented out into ten chapters.
In Fall 2025, the College restructured its Policies & Procedures (P&P) chapters, moving

Policy and Procedure Proposals—Feedback and Public Comment
The following proposals are posted for feedback and comment from the Montgomery College community. When providing your comment, please provide your name, email, department/unit, and the line number(s) to which your comment applies.

Public comments will be accepted until December 5, 2025.
The modifications standardize and clarify the department chair role and related processes. Key changes include consistent teaching expectations, limits, and approvals, and a centralized, equitable recruitment process with standardized interviews, faculty forums, and written feedback. The revisions provide clearer rules on terms and reappointments, including requiring documented support for renewal and advance notice of non-reappointment. Leave provisions are simplified, permitting limited carryover of annual time, and expectations are expanded to include participation in orientation and ongoing training. Additional refinements clarify compensation, evaluation processes, and interim chair service limits.
