Your Semester’s Standout Events
New Student Orientation (NSO)
NSO offers an “insider’s” introduction to Montgomery College and provides essential
information to help students navigate and get connected to Montgomery College. Students
meet fellow students, faculty, staff, and administrators and discover the many campus
resources available. When new students make these connections early on, they are more
likely to experience a successful transition and enjoy their college experience. Learn more.
Welcome Week (First week of each semester)
This event welcomes new and returning students to the campus. Students can meet new
friends and catch up with the old ones while enjoying fun, music, food, and giveaways.
Club Rush (Early each semester)
This event provides students an opportunity to learn more about the numerous ways
they can get involved on campus. Various student clubs and organizations have tables
to share information about their particular group, recruit new members and identify
potential faculty/staff advisors.
Constitution Day (September 17th)
Join the Montgomery College community on this American Federal observance of the adoption
of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens.
International Education Week (November)
International Student Week provides the campus community with the opportunity to showcase
the diversity of our students via programs provided by the Office of Student Life,
student clubs & organizations as well as others. The events join students, faculty,
staff and community members so that they may celebrate and enjoy the diversity of
our campus.
Advocacy Day (February)
Advocacy Day is an annual event where students from Maryland’s sixteen community colleges
visit the state capitol to meet with legislators and advocate for the interests of
community colleges.
Earth Week (April)
Student clubs, community volunteer and advocacy organizations, and academic departments
come together to celebrate the Earth and its people, learn ways to care for our environment,
and volunteer.
Annual End-of-the-Year Awards Ceremony (May)
This event recognizes the hard work and dedication of students who are involved in
campus clubs and organizations. Students and advisors are recognized for club of the
year, club program of the year, advisor of the year, club member of the year and other
awards.
Volunteer Fairs (Once a semester)
Learn about volunteer opportunities with local community organizations.
Days of Service (throughout the year)
Meet other students on these days of volunteering throughout the county. Special opportunities
for first-year students and clubs are scheduled throughout the year.
