The Monday Minute with Dr. Williams

Monday Minute

February 23, 2026

Montgomery College continues to advance its mission through student excellence, expanded support, and inclusive access. A national design honor, extended service hours across the College, and vital language services each demonstrate our commitment to empowering students and strengthening community connections. Together, these efforts reflect the College’s unwavering dedication to opportunity for all.

MC Student Earns Honors In National Design Competition
Congratulations to MC student Kateryna Ponomarova, who earned third place in two categories at the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Student Design Competition new window. Ponomarova’s kitchen design, “Cranberry Bloom,” and bath design, “Crossing Time,” were recognized as excellent from among entries from college students across North America. Ponomarova’s dual recognition demonstrates the exceptional quality of Montgomery College’s programs and the talent of students competing at the national level.

Expanded Office Hours To Better Serve Students
Enrollment management offices have expanded in-person hours to better support students navigating registration, financial aid, and academic records. This includes Raptor Central, Records and Registration, Student Financial Aid, and Scholarships and Grants across all three campuses and at the East County Education Center. These expanded hours, which include evening hours on Tuesdays, provide greater flexibility for students balancing coursework, employment, and family responsibilities. By making services more accessible, the College continues to support student access and completion.

Translation And Interpretation Services Available
As the spring semester continues, translation and interpretation services remain available through our Office of Community Engagement to ensure all students, employees, and county residents can access College resources regardless of language. General information is available online in Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Amharic, and Vietnamese. Community members may request interpreters by calling 240-567-5000. Faculty and staff may also request document translations or event interpreters. More details are available on the Community Engagement webpage new window. These services enhance connections between the College and our community, a goal of our Strategic Plan, by ensuring inclusive and equitable access for all.
