Ambassador Mission statement

At Montgomery College, the STEM Ambassadors program is more than just a leadership opportunity; it’s a platform for students to become role models, mentors, and changemakers in the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Being a STEM Ambassador means stepping into a role where you inspire the next generation of students, especially young girls and underrepresented youth, by demonstrating that anyone can be a scientist, engineer, or innovator.
Through volunteering at high-impact STEM events like the Maryland Science Bowl and STEM outreach workshops such as Mathecal, our Ambassadors build essential skills that help transform communities. This is not a title that merely equips you with skills, but one that demands active engagement and a commitment to ongoing growth. By participating in year-round outreach efforts such as the Mathecal program, STEM Avenue, and other hands-on events, Ambassadors build valuable skills in public speaking, leadership, community outreach, and career readiness. These experiences help students grow not just professionally, but personally, as they see the impact they have when a student realizes, perhaps for the first time, that they belong in STEM. From changing majors to discovering new passions, these moments reflect the power of what we do. Through every event, conversation, and connection, STEM Ambassadors represent the mission of Montgomery College: to transform lives, enrich our community, and ensure that every student, no matter their background, sees a future for themselves in STEM. Your words, your actions, and your service matter because when you become a STEM Ambassador, you represent something much bigger than yourself.
